DAVID VILLA NEVER STOPPED HOPING FOR A SPAIN RECALL, EVEN AFTER THREE YEARS AWAY

SPAIN RECALL DAVID VILLA NEVER

The New York City FC striker and former World Cup winner admitted that his surprise Spain recall was a moment he'd spent years hoping for.
HARRISON, N.J. — For most players, almost three years away from the national team would have been enough to make them give up hope. Not David Villa, who hadn't been

BARCELONA COMPLETE €105M DEMBELE SIGNING FROM BORUSSIA DORTMUND

The 20-year-old sealed his dream move to the Catalan side after the clubs reached an agreement, making him the second most expensive player in history
Barcelona have completed the signing of Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in a deal potentially worth €147 million.
Barca have confirmed a €105m initial fee for Dembele, with Dortmund to receive a further €42m in bonuses. The forward's release clause has been set at €400m.
The €222m received from Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar sparked the Liga side's pursuit of Dembele and Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho in the close season, but they saw bids for each rejected.

While Liverpool have stood firm on their insistence that Coutinho is not for sale, Dortmund have surrendered to Dembele's wishes and allowed him to leave.
The France international had made clear his desire to join Ernesto Valverde's side by skipping training, resulting in him being indefinitely suspended by Dortmund.
Dembele spent just one season in Germany after joining from Rennes for €15m in July 2016, scoring 10 goals in 50 games in all competitions for BVB.
He will arrive in Spain over the weekend to undergo a medical and sign his contract ahead of his official unveiling at Camp Nou on Monday.

DORTMUND STAR DEMBELE TO COMPLETE €150M MOVE TO BARCELONA

The France international will line up at Camp Nou this season following weeks of speculation, with Barca spending some of the fee received for Neymar
Borussia Dortmund striker Ousmane Dembele is on his way to Barcelona in a deal worth a total of €150 million.
Goal understands that the France international will cost Barca an initial €120m, with Dortmund set to receive a further €30m in bonuses.
Sources consulted by Goal assure that the deal is complete between the two clubs and Dembele, who will sign a five-year deal at Camp Nou.
Dembele joined BVB in 2016 from Rennes, and quickly became one of the stars of the Bundesliga in a scintillating debut season.
That form did not go unnoticed, with Barca immediately identifying the 20-year-old as a possible replacement for Neymar after the Brazilian's world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The collapse of Barcelona's approach for Philippe Coutinho then prompted the Catalans to step up their chase for Dembele in recent days.
Liverpool refused to negotiate for their star playmaker, who like Dembele declined to commit his future to the club once speculation began.
But with the news that Dortmund's young star will be moving, Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Coutinho looks set to remain at Anfield.
Dembele appeared a total of 50 times for BVB, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.
The last few weeks have been fraught with tension at the club, however, with the star picking up an internal suspension and facing fierce criticism for his conduct during the transfer saga.

BAD BOY OF FRENCH FOOTBALL AURIER WILL BE A BIG MAN UTD SUCCESS IF...

Serge Aurier
The huge quality of the controversial PSG right back is not in doubt, but he needs to clean up his act off the pitch if he is to shine at Old Trafford.
Serge Aurier is set to depart Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days, having been handed the opportunity by Manchester United to prove that his potentially brilliant career will not be spoiled by unprofessionalism.
At 24, Aurier has already collected armfuls of silverware both domestically in France and on the international scene with Ivory Coast. But while he commands a wealth of experience on the field, his career threatens to be undermined by persistent misdemeanours away from it.
Although he has already agreed terms with Jose Mourinho’s side and a deal between the clubs should be found, a conviction hanging over his head may complicate his work permit application.
Aurier, who said as early as 2011 that it would be “fantastic” to play in the Premier League, has already been denied a visa to enter the UK in the past , embarrassingly missing PSG’s Champions League trip to face Arsenal in 2016 as a result. He was thwarted by a conviction for assaulting a police officer outside of a nightclub in Paris – the type of controversial activity that has seen the Ligue 1 side elect to move him on.
On the park, the player’s ability has rarely been in doubt. He graduated through Lens’ famous youth academy and debuted for the first team in 2009, two days before his 17th birthday.  A stint in Toulouse followed, where he enjoyed such success as a right wing-back that PSG signed him in 2014, initially on loan.
Faced with competition for his place from Gregory van der Wiel, he was able to establish himself as PSG’s first-choice right-back, filling in occasionally in the centre when required. It was an aptitude he had more regularly displayed during his time at Toulouse.
Such versatility will impress Mourinho, but it is his attacking attributes that he will be signed for.
In 57 league matches for PSG, he scored two goals and provided an outstanding 11 assists, while his figures while acting as a wing-back in Toulouse were even more dizzying. He scored eight goals and laid on 12 more in 68 appearances. In his final season with TFC, he was their leading assist maker and only strikers Martin Braithwaite and Wissam Ben Yedder scored more goals.
Should Mourinho let him off his leash, he is a formidable presence.
Although occasionally forgetful of his defensive duties, a fault not regularly exposed in Ligue 1 as PSG are typically so dominant, it is not for this failing that the Parisian side are allowing him to depart.
Rather, it is his constant off-field trouble that they have simply had enough of as they attempt to improve the professionalism in the club ahead of their most serious tilt for the Champions League yet.
Aurier’s list of indiscretions is lengthy, though the nightclub assault is the first occasion he has transgressed national law.
He used the first of his three behavioural strikes up when he found the spotlight following a Champions league match against Chelsea. Aurier was sidelined but branded referee Bjorn Kuipers a “dirty son of a bitch” on Facebook as PSG eliminated Chelsea in 2015 at the last-16 stage, earning him a three-match ban administered by UEFA.
Serge Aurier Angers PSG Coupe de France 27052017
The second was even more bizarre.
He and a friend, who was smoking a shisha pipe, hosted an impromptu question and answer session on Periscope after being left on the bench for a scoreless draw against Lille in February 2016. Head coach Laurent Blanc was among those slandered by the player during that strange episode, with Angel Di Maria branded a “clown” and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, then the untouchable figure of the Parc des Princes, also targeted, too.
After that incident, president Nasser Al Khelaifi said: “Paris Saint-Germain is a very strong institution and nobody can affect that. I will not allow anyone to cause difficulty for the club or distract us from our aims.”
Aurier was suspended for more than a month by the club after offering a public apology, but the nightclub incident pushed them over the edge.
This legacy of indiscipline will tarnish what was otherwise a successful stint in Paris, where he showed on the field that he is capable of making a positive impression at a big club.
Speaking to RMC in November 2016, international team-mate Kolo Toure, once of Arsenal and Liverpool, commented that he believes the player’s circle of friends have dragged him down.
“It’s a difficult mix, where there are many agents, many temptations, many friends, many influences,” he said. “Some learn sooner than others. Serge has had difficult moments away from football, but on the field, he’s a great player.
“He’s exceptional. But football is a game in which you need to remain very disciplined away from the field. Serge has made many mistakes.
“I know he continues to learn from these errors.”
Inevitably, the player’s upbringing in the community of Sevran is often cited for his troubles away from the park. One of the poorest districts in France, it is known for crime and huge unemployment rates.
“When I was young, I hung about with some shady characters,” the player admitted in an interview with So Foot. “It’s hard to avoid when you live here.”
Aurier, who moved to France to be with his mother and step father when civil war broke out in Ivory Coast in 2002, has done little to shake his reputation.
Perhaps cutting his ties with his Parisian background is what is required to allow Aurier to reach the heights he has for so long promised or perhaps Mourinho is the man to drill some discipline into him away from the field.
Either way, if he is to be a success in England, particularly at a club like Manchester United, where the scrutiny is unrelenting and intense, it is essential his behaviour improves. If by May, fans are talking purely about his footballing ability, he will surely have been a roaring success.

Ronaldo Banned

Ronaldo sent off after scoring in Madrid's 3-1 win at Barca

Ronaldo gave the referee a push in the back after seeing the red card that meant he will miss Wednesday's return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said that the club would consider appealing Ronaldo's second booking to the Spanish football federation.
"We played a great match. What bothers me is the sending off of Cristiano," Zidane said. "Maybe it wasn't a penalty, but the card is a bit too much."
After Madrid went ahead in the 50th from an own-goal by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi equalized for Barcelona in the 77th from the penalty spot. Messi was given the chance to take his "clasico" goal record to 24 against Madrid when Luis Suarez was fouled by goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
While Ronaldo's goal was a blow, substitute Marco Asensio's 90th-minute strike - with Madrid down to 10 men - left Barcelona in a deep hole for the second leg.
"I am not going to play this down, we are happy with the result. But of course it is not over," Zidane said. "We are going to enjoy this today, because it is something to enjoy, and tomorrow we will think about the game on Wednesday."
While Zidane's Madrid took a big step to a second title to start the season after beating Manchester United in the European Super Cup, it was a dismal debut for Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde.
Barcelona had hoped to show that, with Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta, it could still compete with Madrid despite having Brazil star Neymar plucked away by Paris Saint-Germain on a world-record transfer last week.
Valverde opted to start Gerard Deulofeu in Neymar's spot on the left side, and the contrast with Neymar was clear. The forward lacked the natural talent and expert timing that Neymar had developed over four seasons with Messi and Suarez up front, and Barcelona attacked better after midfielder Denis Suarez replaced Deulofeu early in the second half.
While Barcelona slumped to a loss to its fiercest rival, Neymar scored a goal in an impressive debut for PSG to help it win 3-0 at Guingamp in the French league.
"We don't like to lose, especially against Madrid, and especially when there is a title at stake," Valverde said. "We are hurting after a loss like this, but we have to regroup and get ready for the next match."
Barcelona's night to forget started when Pique slid to defend a cross by Marcelo, only to redirect the ball into the corner of his net.
Barcelona still dominated possession, but ended up playing into Madrid's hands. It was caught off-balance in defense on goals by second-half substitutes Ronaldo and Asensio scored on the break.
Both forwards were left all alone against Pique. And, after maneuvering to pick their spots, Ronaldo and Asensio executed superb strikes from outside the area to beat the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Ronaldo's first goal of the season came after he played just the final 10 minutes of Madrid's win over United as Zidane monitors his return to full speed following an extended summer vacation.
The defeat leaves Barcelona under pressure to spend at least part of the record 222 million euros ($262 million) it received from PSG for Neymar before the market closes at the end of the month. So far, the club's attempts to pry away Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele have failed

Cristiano Ronaldo red card

Cristiano Ronaldo red card leaves Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos fuming despite El Clasico victory

Sergio Ramos criticised referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea for sending off Cristiano Ronaldo as Real Madrid secured a 3-1 win over Barcelona in the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana at the Nou Camp.
Substitute Ronaldo restored Real's lead with a brilliant effort from range 10 minutes from time, but was sent off two minutes later after picking up a second yellow card for diving after going down under pressure from Samuel Umtiti.

To compound matters, the Portugal forward - linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer - then pushed De Burgos Bengoetxea after being shown a red card.

How Cristiano Ronaldo reacted on the bench during Real Madrid 2-1 Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo reacted on the bench during Real Madrid 2-1 Man Utd

You suspect that if Real Madrid were playing against any other club than Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn’t have featured during Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup.
The Portuguese superstar must have been desperate to play against his former employers and he came on for the final seven minutes after returning to training at the weekend.
Ronaldo received a huge cheer from both sets of supporters as he entered the fray and celebrated as Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over their English opponents.
Goals either side of half-time from Casemiro and Isco were enough to seal the Super Cup for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Romelu Lukaku netted his first competitive goal for United in the 62nd minute but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation for the Red Devils.
It’s quite clear which of the two clubs Ronaldo truly loves.
The relationship between the two Portuguese compatriots deteriorated during their third and final season working together at the Bernabeu, but they appear to have made their peace since then.

Mourinho: Ref awarded Ronaldo too many free-kicks

However, Mourinho took a dig at Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi after the match, claiming he was too quick to award a free-kick every time Ronaldo hit the deck.
"We were playing a team full of fantastic players, we discussed the result until almost the end,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Eurosport. “Then Cristiano came on and the referee wanted to show the respect for this amazing player. Every time Cristiano wanted it, the ref blew for a free-kick and the game was stopped."

Real Madrid coach Zidane sends message to Hazard over Barcelona ambitions

Angel Di-Maria

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has advised Chelsea ace Eden Hazard AGAINST a move to Barcelona.
It's emerged this week that the Belgium international is eager to move to Barcelona, which are seeking a replacement for PSG's world record signing Neymar.
An alarmed Zidane, reports Diario Gol, upon learning of Hazard's intentions has had a message relayed to the midfielder.
"You'd be mistaken going to Barca," Zidane has made it clear to Hazard.
The Frenchman cannot guarantee a Real deal for Hazard this month, with the club pushing to sign Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, but has made it clear that he wants to eventually bring the Blues ace to Madrid.
Whether Hazard, currently recovering from an ankle fracture, has the patience to hang around is another matter, though Zidane is adamant a move to Real would be the best option for his career.
